Billing and plans

Per-seat plans with hard caps. Never a surprise bill.

Plain's billing model has one principle: you always know what you will pay, because limits block rather than bill. There is no overage pricing anywhere in the product.

Plans

Four tiers: Free, Hobby, Pro, and Enterprise. Free is a real free plan for small projects. Hobby unlocks the collaboration features (chat, calls, analytics, private packages, branch protection) with limits sized for small teams. Pro raises every limit for teams that live on the platform, and adds SSO and the audit log. Enterprise is custom: tailored limits and terms. Seats

Paid plans are priced per seat, monthly or annual (annual is discounted). Every human member is a seat; agents are not. Seat count syncs automatically as members join and leave, so the subscription always reflects the actual team.

Hard caps, not overages

Every limit (repositories, storage, CI minutes, AI spend, and the rest) is a hard cap. Hitting one blocks the action with a clear explanation and an upgrade path:

  • Out of CI minutes: new runs do not start.
  • At the repository limit: creating one more asks you to upgrade first.
  • Analytics ingest over allowance: collection pauses.

Metered budgets (CI minutes, AI spend) reset each billing period and pool across seats on paid plans, so a heavy week from one teammate draws on the team's allowance, not a personal one.

Manage your subscription

Owners and admins manage billing from Settings → Billing: choose a plan, check out, and later adjust or cancel through the billing portal. Plan changes apply immediately.

Enterprise

Enterprise adds custom limits, SSO, and audit logging on top of Pro, with terms to match your procurement. Talk to us.
